HOCKEY supremo Val Robinson will open Hyndburn's Hall of Fame on July 8.

The Accrington sports star, who amassed more than 170 England caps in her glittering career, has agreed to be the guest of honour at Hyndburn Sports Centre.

The Hall of Fame is taking shape after three months of hard work by Baxenden man Ray Clark who is now seeking to attract sponsors for the Hall.

More than 60 sports stars will be featured with England cricketers, Premiership footballers, Great Britain swimmers and more.

"We are just hoping we can get the backing of a few local companies who can help us in establishing the Hall of Fame as a place people must visit in Accrington," said Ray.

As well as looking for sponsors, Ray is also on the look out for photos of some of the sporting greats who have had their names put forward.

And he is desperately trying to contact the families of swimmers Tommy Walker and Eddie Keane so he can get more details about their careers. If anyone can help please contact Ray on 01254 392941.
