SWIMMERS from Pioneer 79 Club returned home from recent galas with many medals for outstanding performances.

In the 24th Annual Teaspoon Gala at Sheffield, 25 competitors demonstrated their swimming prowess against stiff competition.

A nail-biting finish saw James Thompson emerge in first place in 50m Freestyle event with only two hundredths of a second between first and third places. James also received bronze in 50m Butterfly and was eighth in 50m Backstroke.

It was an outstanding day for two swimmers who received medals in all their individual swims - Keiran Candon came first in 50m Butterfly, second in 50m Breaststroke, fifth in 50m Freestyle and sixth in 50m Backstroke.

Paige Doutel came second in 50m Butterfly, third in 50m Backstroke, fifth in Breaststroke and 10th in 50m Freestyle.

Other successes included:

Connor Makin - first 50m Breaststroke and eightth 50m Freestyle;

Rachel Atkinson - first 50m Backstroke;

Amelia Candon - third in 50m Butterfly and sixth in 50m Freestyle,

Matthew Bennett - second in 50m Freestyle, eighth in 50m Breaststroke and fifth in 50m Butterfly;

David Fairbrother - second 50m Breaststroke;

Abigail Beardmore - sixth 50m Butterfly,.

Alex Halstead - eighth 50m Freestyle and 10th 50m Butterfly.

Jared Potter- eighth 50m Breaststroke, 10th 50m Backstroke;

Adam Halstead - 9th 50m Butterfly and 10th 50m Freestyle.
