Trio help Lancashire to historic win

The Lancashire Under 11 girls sportshall team won the northwest sportshall competition at Manchester – with the help of three Hyndburn Athletic Club athletes.

The Lancashire Under 11 girls sportshall team won the northwest sportshall competition at Manchester – with the help of three Hyndburn Athletic Club athletes.

 Nicola Moynihan of All Saints Primary and Ellyse Wrigley and Abigail Earnshaw of St James Primary in Clitheroe all played their part in a historic win.

The trio were selected for Lancashire after competing for Hyndburn AC at the Lancashire sportshall competitions held at Blackpool.

 It has been 11 years since Lancashire won and this year they won with 350 points beating the usual winners Merseyside on 344 points.

The other counties where Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Isle of Man and Cumbria.

The Under 13 and 15 northwest competition is being held on the 16 February at Robin Park, Wigan and Hyndburn also have some strong athletes representing Lancashire in this event.

They are Under 13 boys Alex Chambers, Under 13 girls Saffron Scott, Under 15 girls Emma Duckworth and Under 15 boys William Moynihan, Matthew Roberts, Hasnain Ehsan and Jayden Coyne.
