NEW World Pool Champion Lynette Horsburgh got a taste of her own medicine at her Stanley Street Club exhibition night.

Lynette, who knocked eight times world champion Sue Thompson out in the semi-finals in July to clinch the world crown in Blackpool, came to Accrington last week.

And there she seven-balled Michael Coffey as the 34-year-old showed the local pool players how good she was.

But 18-year-old Coffey got his revenge when she let him have a second go at beating her - and he promptly cleared the table, not letting Lynette get off her seat.

"It was a really good night," said Stanley Street’s Phil Miller.

"Lynette is a fantastic pool player and a great champion. She took on about 25 players from the club and, although she lost a couple of games, she made a fight of every one.

"I think she showed why she is world champion."
