Hyndburn Athletic Club collected 16 medals with every athlete who competed winning at least one medal at the recent Mid-Lancs medal meeting at Blackpool.

There were gold medals for Stephen Sumner in the senior mens 100m with a time of 11.00s dead and in the 200m in 22.9s.

Senior woman Sarah Cowgill won the discus with a throw of 18.39m and Under 17 woman Eve Parkinson won the javelin with a throw of 22.01m.

Silver medals were collected by Sarah Cowgill (javelin), Jonathan Bailey (javelin),Eve Parkinson (discus & shot), Tara Procter (javelin), Jamie Shirtcliffe (javelin) and the 4 x 100m senior mens relay squad which consisted of Stephen Sumner, Daniel Cowgill, Russell Race and Nick Rawcliffe.

Bronze medals winners were Russell Race (javelin), Tara Procter (discus), Heidi Hamshere (shot), Marnie Shirtcliffe (javelin) and Lucinda Mulligan (javelin).

Brooklyn Cross threw the javelin as a guest in the Under 13 boys and finished in third place

Other performances were: Daniel Cowgill 4th 100m & 200m and 5th in javelin; Russell Race 4th shot and 5th discus;, Jonathan Bailey 7th 200m; Jamie Shirtcliffe 9th long jump and 10th shot; Brooklyn Cross 8th 100m and 9th shot; Sarah Cowgill 5th shot; Tara Procter 5th 100m; Heidi Hamshere 4th discus and 6th javelin; Marnie Shirtcliffe 6th shot and sixth long jump; Lucinda Mulligan 7th shot.

Many of the above athletes gained personal best performances on the day including Daniel Cowgill who sliced off a massive 0.3s in his 100m race taking his time from 11.5s down to 11.2s.
