MOORHEAD High School Year Seven Boys were crowned Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Schools Cross-Country champions.

The team of Sam Tattersall, Bryn Hargreaves, Elliott Neil, Ben Cryer and Josh Coo raced to victory at Wilsons out of a number of schools.

Moorhead finished third overall in the competition with Year Seven Girls runner Sarah Walters finishing in seventh spot in her event, Year Eight Girl Tess Parkinson racing into ninth spot and Year 11 Girls runner Cleo Calverley recording a superb fifth place.

Acting Head of PE, Andy Kelly said: "The school has come a long way in the past few years in terms of sporting success. It is producing athletes who are representing their school, district and county in a number of areas."

Some of the Moorhead runners will go on to represent the district at the Lancashire Cross-Country Championships.
