TWO Moorhead Sports College pupils have been rewarded for clocking up the miles with the "Peter Ormerod Memorial Trophy."

Declan Kane, 13, and Jonathan Goodyear, 10, began the "Moorhead Coppice Run" in November where pupils and teachers can run on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings between Autumn and Spring school terms.

They can run three miles every evening and are awarded certificates for their total mileage.

Both Declan and Jonathan were joint winners of the trophy as both ran a staggering total of 69 miles.

The "Border Flooring Company" trophy -for the form with the highest accumulated mileage - was 8RBH with a total of 117 miles.

Sports teacher Andy Kelly said: "Well done to all the pupils and staff who took part in the scheme and gained awards.

"This is especially those who took part during some harsh winter conditions which certainly tested their commitment and character."
