THE Observer Snooker Cup, revived this year, is approaching an exciting climax.
The draw has been made for the quarter-finals which sees a switch to a neutral tables format.
Holder and favourite Colin Morton of the Poplar Club plays Jonathan Clark of Oswaldtwistle Conservative Club, while a tremendous game is on the cards between young Shaun Greenall of Padiham Snooker Club and ex-winner Dale Clark of Poplar.
Shaun was in terrific form in the previous round, hitting the tournament's highest break of 82.
The other ties see Shabir Ahmed of John's Snooker Club, Blackburn, paired against Nigel Holmes of Potters, Great Harwood, while Shane Thornton of Baxenden Conservative Club will play Mick Shaw of Rishton Free Gardeners.
The matches will be played on 6, 7, 8 and 9 March but the venues have still to be arranged. The complete draw will appear in next week's Observer.
The semi-finals will be held at the Poplar Club on 13 and 14 March with the final taking place at the same venue on Wednesday 15 March. More than £1,000 in prize money is on offer to the winner and runners-up as well as the handsome Observer Cup and Holden Cup and a special prize for the highest break.
