FANCY laying your hands on a signed Blackburn Rovers shirt? How about two tickets to watch Burnley, a trip to Manchester United and footballs signed by players from Accrington Stanley and Bolton Wanderers?

Hyndburn Soccer Taskforce is asking for people to submit bids for the football memorabilia in order to help them raise funds to develop the game of grassroots football in Hyndburn.

Chairman of the group John Baron said: "The Taskforce has worked in partnership with local clubs, coaches, Hyndburn Borough Council and Leisure in Hyndburn to produce a five-year plan to develop football in the borough.

"This plan is a fundamental requirement if we are to attract grant funding towards the future development of facilities in the area. Without such funding, our pitches and changing facilities face a downward spiral of slow decline and disrepair."

He added: "The council funded production of the first plan which was instrumental in securing Football Foundation grants for the on-going work at King Georges Playing Fields, but in the current financial climate they are only able to offer a limited amount of funding this time.

"The Taskforce, therefore, face the challenge of having to bridge the shortfall to see the action points listed in the plan become a reality.

"We have already staged a seven-a-side tournament which generated some income but we still have a long way to go."

The group have called on the generosity of North West Football clubs who have donated various items to be auctioned in a bid to raise funds.

The items are open for bids and will close on Friday 21 October, with the winners being informed the same day.

If you wish to bid for any of the items the you can leave a phone bid on (01254) 399720 (answering machine) or email stating your name, contact phone number, the item you are bidding for and the amount you are bidding.
