OSWALDTWISTLE FC Under 12s are in for a treat on Sunday after being selected to watch Wigan's Premiership clash with Everton first hand.
The team moved up from seven-a-side football, where they won some silverware, to 11-a-side this season but have found the going tough with just one win all season in the Accrington and District Junior League.
As a morale-boosting exercise, manager Michael Wissett got in touch with Wigan Athletic who run a Football in the Community "Team of the Week".
"My friend is a Wigan fan and I go with him sometimes to watch them and he suggested trying to get the Under 12s as the "Team of the Week"," said the manager.
"It is for teams who have had either had outstanding success or who haven't won a game and, when I e-mailed them, we hadn't.
"I couldn't believe it when they said we could come as I thought they might not as we are out of their area.
"But it promises to be a good day as the team go to the leisure centre across from the ground and have a bit of a party before the match, watch the game and, at half-time, go on the pitch and have their photograph taken for the next programme.
"We thought it would be a boost for the lads and they are all really looking forward to it."
The side won 4-3 against Great Harwood Rovers before Christmas but are at the bottom of the league with 14 defeats in their 15 games.
