GREAT Harwood are record breakers after amassing the highest score ever in a Ribblesdale League senior match.

Harwood chalked up 333-4 against Padiham on Saturday - smashing the previous best of 319-3 set by Cherry Tree in 1995.

Australian pro Andy Crook hit 126 while fellow opener Russell Whalley made 80. And Paul Houldsworth chipped in with a half century.

"I didn't realise we had broken the record until Monday," said skipper Whalley. "I did think it would be more but we are always glad to rewrite the record books."

"Some days things just go for you and it did on Saturday."

"The pro batted well. He gave them a couple of chances early on but then he went on a roll."

"And I am enjoying my cricket at the moment and it is good to get the runs - and for Harwood to break the league record."
