THE new Ribble Valley Athletics Club announced its presence with a strong representation in the Mid-Lancs Cross Country League event at Towneley Park on Saturday.

The under-11 girls were well represented with most running in their first league event.

Lauren Westwell finished in 13th place with Lucy Lennon in 26th, Ellen Duke 29th and Alex Thistletwaite 34th.

The under-11 boys showed quality with Joe Oldfield putting in a very strong performance to finish 3rd with teammates George Bates and Jonny Mort coming 7th and 17th respectively.

The under-13 girls were represented by Abbie Thistletwaite in 21st position, Gabriella Charnley coming in straight after her in 22nd and Rebecca Williams in 44th.

In the under-13 boys Richard Mort finished in 41st place.

OTHER POSITIONS

Under-15 girls: Amy Crabtree (20th) followed by Hayley Huntoon, Sarah Howe and Abbie Dowling. Annabel Ralph finished in 35th place follwed by Tess Parkinson and Rebecca Kemp (40th & 41st).

Under-15 boys: Eliot Bailey (28th) and Michael Aspden (34th).

Under-17 girls: Leigh Lennon (6th), Suzanne Bailey (12th), Alex Bellard (15th), Ashleigh Williams (18th), Heather Williams (23rd) and Clare Bunting (24th).

Under-17 boys: Robbie Schofield finished fourth while in the junior mens' race Nathan Riding was 4th and Nicola Barnes was 10th in the junior women's race.
