SAEED Anwar Junior has sent Rishton to the top of the Lancashire League table after they easily overcame Accrington in a local derby on Sunday.

Gate receipts of just £71 added to bottom club Accrington's current woes on a miserable day at Thorneyholme Road.

And they couldn't raise a smile on the pitch.

Accrington could only muster 113 all out with captain Matt Wilson top scoring with 29 while Rishton's Pakistan paid man took 5-31 to make it 27 wickets for the season.

Saeed Anwar then made an unbeaten 66 - now having 426 runs for the season - aided by captain Andy Bartley who both steered Rishton to an eight wicket win and top spot.

Enfield are hot on their heels after they knocked East Lancs from pole position and got revenge after the Alexandra Meadows side knocked them out of the Worsley Cup last week. Craig Fergusson was the star with the bat with an unbeaten 71, helped by Mas Ahmed's 41 in their 158-5. Pro Brandon Hiini then got stuck into the East Lancs batting order taking 5-38 in the 68 run win.

Church captain Phil Sykes was celebrating as he joined an elite group who have amassed 10,000 runs in their careers but they were still on the losing side against Ramsbottom.

Sykes made 18 but top scorer was pro Ruven Peiris with 45 in their 120 all out - the lower order falling cheaply. The bowlers made the Rams fight for it but they suffered a four wicket loss.
