POPULAR Church CC professional Ruven Peiris is playing his part in helping the victims of the Tsunami disaster.
The Sri Lankan was just three miles from the area where the disaster struck on Boxing Day and although no members of his immediate family were injured, he knows of people who lost their lives.
He is therefore hoping to get donations from people in the Hyndburn area, which will be sent to him and he will use the money first hand to help a nearby village which has been hit.
"He wanted to do something to help and he will keep accounts of the money sent to him and how it it used," said Church's league representative Jack Houldsworth.
Church are also planning to host a match in aid of the disaster on Thursday 14 July when the Australian Crusaders are the visitors. They play at a high standard and tour Europe every two years.
Meanwhile, Peiris may come to England earlier than expected as the first class programme has been abandoned in Sri Lanka because of the disaster.
