Accrington darts team travelled to second placed Aspull on Sunday needing a win to see them move into second spot in the Super League.

Captain Dave Ryan had his work cut out as he could only take ten players to the match for various reasons. However, he led by example with Dave winning the first game 3-2.

Gav Aspin played second and only just got beat before wins for Jamie Guillfoyle and Tony Clarke (Burnley) put Accrington 3-1 ahead - Tony had the best average for Accrington on the day of 75.15 including a maximum 180.

Defeats for Olly Thompson, Paul Lancaster and Liam Walsh saw Aspull move into a 4-3 lead for the first time in the match before wins for Graham Crabtree and Ian McMillan put Accrington back in the driving seat. Going into the last game Accrington’s Mel Marshall didn’t really do himself justice as he lost leaving the scores level at 5-5. It wasn’t the result Accrington were looking for and Accrington still trail Aspull by one point.

Accrington play host to league leaders Halliwell and fourth placed Longridge in April in what will be a huge game.
