Lukle Blackledge produced his best performance of his boxing career to win all four rounds against durable journeyman Dean Walker from Leeds at Colne Muni on Friday night.

The 21-year-old middleweight floored Walker with a well-timed jab in virtually the first exchange of the contest which left the 50-fight experienced professional on his back foot for the remainder of the fight, in defence mode.

Luke, from Kokoro Gym on Dale Street and who lives in Oswaldtwistle, came through the rounds stronger and stronger showing off his superior skill and conditioning and fitness.

"It was an excellent finish to 2011 and roll on 2012 as I feel big things to come for Luke," said his coach Jason Curtis.

That was Luke’s 35th contest in three years and his seventh victory as a professional – he has yet to lose in the paid ranks.

Meanwhile, Commonwealth kickboxing champion Mikey Worswick, also a member of Kokoro gym, has turned his hand to boxing and clinched a Northern Area title over four rounds.

It was for the European Boxing Federation – a semi-professional organisation.

"That’s good preparation for anyone wishing to turn professional in the sport," said his coach Curtis.

Elsewhere Koroko’s Joe Rea extended his ABA record to four fights, four wins in Irlam.
