HYNDBURN Athletic Club sprint star Stephen Sumner has been selected as a member of the Northwest Athletics Academy for future England hopefuls.
The teenager is one of the top sprinters in the North West at 100m.
And, as an outstanding regional athlete, the aim of the Academy is to help him achieve his full potential.
The benefits include Elite Athlete training, Sports Rehabilitation/Physiotherapy and access to Regional Event Group Managers.
The Academy meet once a month at Sportcity Manchester.
"This is a massive achievement and honour for an athlete, and shows how Stephen's dedication to the sport has been acknowledged after an outstanding outdoor season," said his dad Phil.
"And his coach Ann Pickering should also be praised for her dedication and continued belief in him."
