LEE Power lived up to his name by using all his strength to take a number of gold medals at the BSK North West Open in Preston.

Lee, a member of Accrington Shotokan Karate Club, took part in the Men’s Black Belt event in the morning and won it.

And fellow Shotokan member Craig Cooke wasn’t far behind in second place.

The two 3rd Dan Black Belts then teamed up to come out on top in the Team Kata event.

And Robbie Cooke made it a hat-trick of top individual performances from the club when the 11-year-old captured fourth place in the 11 to 14-year-old section.

The afternoon session was the Men’s Individual Kumite (fighting) competition and Lee was again the man in charge with another winning trophy while Craig came third.

The pair again teamed up to claim gold in the Men’s Team Kumite.

Robbie was unfortunate to be drawn against the current British champion in the quarter-finals and was beaten.

Chief Instructor, Sensei Marc Leacock (6th Dan) said the students had trained hard and deserved their medals.
