GREAT Harwood Cricket Club CC have snapped up Pakistani all-rounder Sohail Tanvir for this year's Ribblesdale League season.
The 22-year-old is a promising left-arm quick bowler and useful middle-order batsman, having the highest average batting at number eight in the current domestic season with four 50s and a top score of 124.
The Rawalpindi Rams player has previous experience in England having played for Haslington in the North Staffs and South Cheshire League last year, chalking up 67 wickets and 600 runs from just 21 games.
Meanwhile, fellow Ribblesdale League side Baxenden CC are on the up both on and off the field.
They reported a profit of £6759 for last year as opposed to a loss of £1355 for 2005. There were record takings with the club's income - from the bar, subs and sponsorship - increased by just under £8,000.
On the field, the club finished in the top three and professional Jonathan Fielding had a big impact - and he has signed for this season. They are hoping to make a big surge for the title with champions Clitheroe losing some of their players.
However, one of their rising talents, Toby Bulcock has left to join Lancashire League side Accrington.
