ACCRINGTON Stanley. inactive so far this year, are due to take the wintry road north to Gateshead tomorrow but the match (Kick-off 3pm) has been in doubt all week due to the arctic conditions.

Stanley fans would be well advised to check the ceefax pages or call ahead before setting off on the 100-mile plus journey.

If the game does go ahead - and there were reports of a slight thaw around Wednesday - it would represent a great chance for Stanley to gain a much-needed confidence-boosting away win against the strugglers.

Manager John Coleman has no fresh injury or suspension worries although midfiel man Michael Knowles has been struggling with a bout of flu and tonsilitis.

Influential playmaker Mike Marsh is back in training and long-time injury absentee defender Steve Hollis has also recently seen his first action of the season with the reserves and should be ready to shake off his 'forgotten man' tag soon.

Stanley are in negotiation with Morecambe with a view to making a deal to bring midfield man Andy Gouck to the Crown Ground.

  • Stanley's LFA Cup tie at home to Southport, postponed on Wednesday, is provisionally resceduled for next Wednesday, 15 January, unless Southport draw in the FA trophy.
