WHINNEY Hill lost 4-1 away at Garstang after they looked like taking the lead early on.

The visitors started brightly and had a number of half chances to take the lead. Mark Dreslin pulled off a fine save but the ball fell to an opposing player who slotted home.

Minutes later a defensive error allowed Garstang to make it 2-0 and following the interval, Whinney Hill were caught on the break, making it 3-0.

A late consolation goal from John Riley after good work between Chris Grimshaw and Adam Lee reduced the arrears but Garstang then killed off their opponents after they were gifted a free header from a corner.

The 3rd team was involved in an eight-goal thriller against Accrington Loyal after being out of action for a number of weeks. They were understandably a little rusty in the early stages and found themselves 1-3 down at half time.

After the break Whinney Hill raised their game dramatically and, playing slick football, raced to a 4-3 lead before their opponents equalised in the dying moments.

Goal scorers were Paul Prestage who bagged two with Franny Derosa and Gareth Talbot scoring a goal apiece.
