Stanley manager John Coleman believes Billy Kee is the best striker in League Two after his latest goal in the win against Dagenham.

Kee scored the only goal of the game to make it six in his last 11 games and boss Coleman was delighted with his forwards contributions.

“There couldn’t ever be a more fitting player to score the goal, Billy Kee absolutely ran the game,” he told the club’s official website. “He was fantastic and that kind of performance, that dogged determination he showed, that’s what sets him apart, that’s why he’s the best striker in the league.”

The goal by Kee was important for Accrington but Coleman, who has previously said Kee wasn’t in the side to score goals, was happy with the 25-year-olds overall play during the game.

“Billy will tell you there is no such thing as a bad goal. Don’t forget I’ve never said he’s in our side to score goals, it’s just a bonus that he does,” said Coleman.

“Forget his goal, I know he wants to score goals, he will get you 20 by default, because he is such a good player.

“But it is what else he brings to the party, what he brings in his overall play, the style of football that we play and it is crucial to have someone like him.

“When he gives it away it is noticeable, because he doesn’t waste possession a lot, and that is how footballers should be in my eyes, proper footballer, he’s a throwback to the old days.”

Coleman believes there will still be many twists and turns during the remainder of the League Two campaign.

The Reds kept up the pressure on their rivals with a 1-0 victory over Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday. Kee scored an 83rd minute winner for his side during the game, but Coleman is expecting each of the teams around them to drop points at some stage.

“There is going to be slip ups along the way but we just have to make sure that we’ll be there or there-abouts to capitalise on them,” he said. “We’ve

just got to go from there, our players have a

great spirit and the guys coming back from injury will help.

“It’s still all to play for, there are lots of teams in and around the play-offs and automatics so we have to make sure that we’re there come May.

“Against Dagenham it was one of them games you have to keep plugging away, you’ve just got to hope that it’s going to be your day.

“That’s what we said

to the players at

half-time, if you just push that extra yard it can always be your day and it was.”
