Haworth Art Gallery tell us about a fantastically busy Easter weekend...

What a busy Easter we have had at the gallery!

On Good Friday, over 200 people attended our Grand Day Out and met ‘Anne Haworth’ and ‘Joseph Briggs’ courtesy of Proper Job Theatre Group, watched weaver Sue Lawty as she worked on our new wall hanging, and took part in workshops run by Sarah Jay.

On Easter Saturday, families took part in The Chicken Run and on Easter Sunday 50 people enjoyed a performance of Alice in Wonderland, as well as songs from Annie by young members of the ReAct group from Oswaldtwistle Arts Centre.

April promises to be just as busy!

On Saturday, April 20, at 10am there is a launch of the new exhibition Transcending Perceptions.  Artist Chris Fittock will challenge visitors perceptions of how they judge someone by the clothes they wear, while sound producer Jules, will get visitors to question not only what they see but also what they hear.

In addition, we shall also have artwork on show from the Blackburn Artist Group.

On Sunday, April 21, Edward Foster will be running an adult workshop in how to draw your own northern folk.

Places for this workshop cost £25 and are limited, so contact the gallery on 01254 233782 to book. From April 20, family groups and children can have fun finding the Peg People and have a go at creating their own self-portrait as well as the usual colouring and painting available in the education room.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
