One Asian family attacked another with a cricket bat and metal bars on an Accrington street.

Detectives investigating the violent clash on Ormerod Street said it was a dispute between feuding families and could be honour based.

DS Julie Cross said violence broke out between 7pm and 7.30pm on Monday, November 26.

She said: "It is a long standing family dispute. Four members of one family attacked two members of another. They ended up having an argument but violence broke out. We are investigating it and need some independent witnesses, someone who may have been passing through the area.

"Luckily there was no broken bones or more serious injuries. It's still a very serious incident. We believe it could be honour based."

Weapons used in the clash included a cricket bat and metal bars.

A 25-year-old man and a 26-year-old man both suffered minor injuries.

And a 26, 28, 45 and 51-year-old, all males, were arrested following the incident but have been released on police bail.
