THE mum of X Factor star Diana Vickers has hit back at TV comedian Alan Carr after he mocked her daughter on his Channel 4 show.

The funnyman, who presents Alan Carr: ChattyMan lampooned the X Factor star during a celebrity Twitter update feature.

Like many other celebrities, 18-year-old Diana is a member of the social networking site, Twitter, and can give instant updates about her daily life over the Internet.

On 11 July, Diana wrote: "what idiot has forgotton her passport for today? MISS VICKERS! dnt worry I will get to scotland gang, after a treck" [sic].

But in last Sunday’s show, while chatting with fellow comedian Jonathan Ross in front of 1.9M viewers, Carr questioned why Diana needed a passport to travel to Scotland in the first place.

Carr said: "What idiot doesn’t know you don’t need a passport to Scotland!" before launching into an impression of Diana.

Mocking Diana's trademark exaggerated hand movements she made while singing on last year's X Factor, he made claw-like gestures with his hand. Now, Diana’s mum Anne has cleared everything up, and, for the record, Diana knows Scotland is part of the UK.

Anne said: "Of course she knows she doesn’t need a passport to go to Scotland. She needed it for the plane as photo ID. Diana was performing up in Scotland with JLS and Ruth Lorenzo. They had been booked on a flight to Scotland from London. I was in London with Diana at the time when we realised her passport was up in Accrington. I had left it in the house after a holiday."

Fortunately, Diana’s aunt Pauline was able to come to the rescue. Anne said: "Diana took the train up to Scotland and it stopped in Preston on the way, so her aunt Pauline drove to Preston and gave her the passport. She got to Scotland in time to perform and travelled back to London on the plane with the others."

On Sunday night, Anne said she received several texts about the mishap and Alan Carr’s joke.

She added: "We all thought it was hilarious. I guess Alan Carr had been following her Twitter site and made a joke about it. It was funny though."
