ACCRINGTON Stanley fans were walking tall after donating £1,000 to the Observer’s Aspire fund.

They presented the cheque to Aspire officials at half-time during Stanley’s defeat to Barnet on Saturday.

Sean Wilson, also known as Coronation Street’s Martin Platt, was brought to the game by walk organiser Steve Lowe a Radio Lancashire presenter.

Steve had interviewed Sean on his show and he is patron of a charity to build schools in Nepal.

Sixty Stanley fans walked 18 miles from Accrington to Rochdale for their game last month to raise £3,000 to build a school for Sean’s charity and the rest was donated to the St John’s Church Appeal.

Steve said: "I am very proud. We raised a lot of money and it was a high point of the day presenting the cheque at half-time."
