A keen biker is recruiting riders for a 110-mile charity road trip.

Sue Walden, 44, had organised the ‘charity ride out’ from Baxenden to the Forest of Bowland in order to raise funds for the Boparan Charitable Trust.

The trust helps children and young people across the country who are disadvantaged either by poverty, disability or terminal illness.

Sue, who works at Holland’s Pies in Baxenden, said that she decided she needed to do something after seeing the work the charity does.

She said: “I saw the work that the trust did and it just touched me. I just felt that I needed to try and raise money for them.

“A lot of people don’t like doing sponsored stuff so I thought it was a better idea to charge £5 for people to take part in the ride.

“I have got a few riders on board so far, but the more the merrier.”

Sue said that she had plotted the 110-mile route and was excited to get going.

She said: “I have ridden the route to check it out and it is a really nice route.

“We are starting in Baxenden and then we are travelling on up to Blackburn, Longridge and eventually up to Garstang and beyond.

“We’ll stop along the way for some food and refreshments and then we will reach the Forest of Bowland.

“At no point do we go back on ourselves, the whole route is circular. We’ll eventually come back into Baxenden where Holland’s will be providing refreshments.”
