Attempts are being made to track down a driver who fled from the scene after crashing into a house following a chase by police.

The incident happened on Union Road in Oswaldtwistle near to the junction with Harvey Street.

Lancashire Police said officers were pursuing a Vauxhall Corsa after the driver was suspected of having no insurance.

The crash happened at around 6.20pm on Sunday, June 12. No police vehicles were damaged.

Two passengers from the Corsa were detained at the scene and were later released without charge.

Enquiries are now taking place to locate the driver of the Corsa who ran away from the scene.

Officers said the crash damaged some of the bricks in the house wall and that the council was informed for engineers to carry out a structural assessment.

A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: “We were in a pursuit of the vehicle along Harvey Street and it went straight across Union Road and into the house.

“The vehicle was recovered. There were cracks in the wall of the house and the council was called.”
