A community group in Hyndburn is set for a £1,000 boost - thanks to the Accrington Observer.
We have teamed up with Vodafone to offer the exciting prize to the community group our readers judge the most deserving.
Vodafone is offering the Community Connection Award to celebrate the opening of its new store in Accrington Arndale Centre.
For a chance to win the cash, we are asking community groups, clubs and charities from across Hyndburn to explain why they deserve the cash and to pose for a team selfie that best reflects the efforts of the team.
Readers of the Accrington Observer will then be given the chance to vote on the most deserving group.
The winning team could be anything from a local soup kitchen in need of a new oven to a local football team that needs a new kit.
However they must be based in the Accrington area.
Accrington Observer editor Gareth Tidman said the competition is a wonderful opportunity for local groups.
He said: “We are delighted that Vodafone have given us the chance to offer £1,000 to our readers.
“I know there are plenty of local community groups, clubs and charities that are very deserving of the money.
“Hopefully this opportunity will make a real difference to the winning group.
"We want you to tell us why your group is so deserving of the cash and we’d also like to see you post a group selfie to our Twitter and Facebook pages. The entries be printed in the paper.”
If entering via Facebook groups are asked to like the page before submitting their entry.
We are asking people to include a sentence or two explaining what they would use the money for, which will be published as part of their entry.
All shortlisted entries will be published in the paper and readers will be asked to vote for the cause/project they most believe in.
All entries must be received by Friday, October 31.
Members of the winning group must be prepared to pose for a photograph at the new Vodafone store.
All entries must include contact details which can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org, if preferred.
