DIANA Vickers was faced with her biggest fans when pupils from her former school popped in to see her West End performance in Little Voice.

The X Factor singing sensation from Accrington was watched by her former drama teacher and was mobbed for autographs by pupils.

Diana has swapped her childhood home in Huncoat for a lush London apartment while she stars in the Rise and Fall of Little Voice at the London Vaudeville Theatre.

Westholme’s head of drama Cath Roberts, applauded Diana’s performance with a standing ovation before she and fellow teachers embraced the star in an emotional reunion.

She said: "It’s been a great experience for everyone and Diana was absolutely incredible.

"We always knew she was special.

"She has gone from a shy little thing in Year 7, when I first taught her, to a leading lady in the West End.

"I have to admit I was crying with pride and so were a lot of us."

Diana landed the starring role made famous by fellow Lancastrian Jane Horrocks after she was spotted by original script writer Jim Cartwright.

The X Factor semi-finalist who was recently paid a visit by the show’s boyband runners up JLS, is living in Chelsea while she also records a new album due for release next year.

Diana said: "It was so nerve racking performing in front of my old school, but it was such an amazing feeling.

"It was exciting and I could feel my heart pounding all the way through the show but they gave me such an amazing reception and ovation.

"It was just as exciting as the first night.

"Westholme School is the best school in the world with amazing teachers who have given me a great platform."

Diana's role in Little Voice will run until January 2010.

Her album is set to hit the shops early next year.
