THE devastated family of a man found dead at Accrington Railway Station have paid tribute to him.

Yesvinter Ram, 34, was spotted lying face down in a platform shelter by a train driver last Wednesday morning.

British Transport Police were called in and the death was at first treated as suspicious but after a post-mortem police said they no longer suspected foul play.

Yesvinter, who was commonly known as Vinny, was born in Birmingham and lived in Ormerod Street, Accrington, with his wife and their three children. After their divorce his ex-wife and children moved away and he went to live with his sister Daljit in Bradford.

She said: "The family are still coming to terms with our loss. Vinny was a happy, bubbly, funny person who made friends wherever he went.

"He lived for his children and liked nothing more than spending time with the ones he loved. We have many happy memories of him and we will never forget him."

Daljit added: "He was the best man at my wedding last year and he was very close to my brother Stuntar Ram, 35, who lives in Accrington, and our sister Kalbit Kaur, 39, who lives in Wolverhampton.

"He was a great uncle to our children and loved spending times with the kids. When he lived with me he helped with the cleaning and the washing and became a real handyman.

"He loved playing snooker and loved cooking. He would often take over the kitchen and cook Asian dishes and he made an amazing spaghetti bolognese."

He leaves his parents Resham Kaur and Joginder Ram, close family friend Margaret Davidson, nephews Ashok, Sanjeev, Amar, Surresh, Suneil, Bradley, Dillon and Zack, and nieces Poonam, Karan and Amber,

An inquest was opened and adjourned last Friday and Detective Chief Inspector Malcolm McKinnon said: "We are investigating the circumstances leading up to Mr Ram being found on the morning of Wednesday 5 April and would like to hear from any members of the public with any information, or anyone who saw Mr Ram on this day prior to his arrival at Accrington Station.

"I would like to reiterate that we are treating this incident as a tragic loss to the family and there are no suspicious circumstances. Our thoughts are with Mr Ram's family at this difficult time."
