A patch of grass in Clayton-le-Moors went up in flames yesterday after it was deliberately targetted.
Firefighters were called to the land off Whalley Road at around 1.40pm on Sunday, March 3.
Watch manager Steve Barnes has urged people not to start fires following a dry spell.
He added: "We were told that kids were seen running away from the patch of grass. The grass is very dry on top at the moment and it doesn't take much for a fire to get going. We would urge people not to do this kind of thing. It ties up our resources when we could be elsewhere."
