School choirs entertained crowds at the Great Harwood Christmas lights switch-on.

Pupils from St Wulstan’s, St Hubert’s, St Bartholomew’s and St John’s and Great Harwood primary schools sang hymns and carols to mark the annual event.

The event was hosted by BBC Radio Lancashire presenter Stephen Lowe for the fourth year running and opened by town crier Rawden Kerr.

The lights were officially turned on by Accrington Stanley mascot ‘Winstanley’.

Mr Kerr also presented prizes to the winners of the Great Harwood best dressed Christmas window competition, with Eyes of Harwood claiming the first prize.

Selection boxes were handed out to youngsters who took part and visitors also enjoyed free mince pies.
