A mess dinner and a charity beauty event feature in this week’s Time-trip column.

Each week in our column we will publish a set of pictures taken by our photographers which appeared in the paper in the 2000s.

The pictures appear first on our website and are then reprinted in the paper.

This week the pictures show Accrington Town Hall cadet force mess dinner, with second lieutenant Debra Cassidy (organiser) welcoming the mayor and guests, and Accrington Green Party people in an eco-friendly tent at Sandy Lane.

There are also shots of Edward Hope’s 18th birthday at Papa’s, Church Street, Accrington, and an evening of health and beauty for the NSPCC at Sparth House in Clayton-le-Moors, with Jane Cookson (masseuse), Joanne Jordan (beauty therapist), and model Karen Wilson, while Kathleen Paintin, of Accrington NSPCC, looked on.

The photographs were all taken in the early 2000s.

If you have any pictures you would like us to feature, please send them into communities@menmedia.co.uk or via the Accrington Observer Facebook page.
