JAYNE Curry will prove she's hot stuff tomorrow night when she shows off her acting skills alongside boxing legend Frank Bruno.
The talented 25-year-old from Accrington, who is also an accomplished singer, is set to tread the boards in Aladdin at the Swan Theatre in High Wycombe.
She landed the role of the Princess earlier this year, but had feared Bruno would be unable to play the Genie after he was sectioned due to mental health problems back in September. But Jayne, who now lives in Scarborough, is thrilled the former world heavyweight champ is back on his feet and raring to go.
Her proud mum Angela revealed: "Jayne says he is smashing and really nice with everyone. She's pleased to see him back to his old self."
Before he bowed out of the spotlight to receive treatment, Bruno made his final public appearance at Accrington's Opium nightspot in September. But now, instead of lacing up his boxing boots, he will appear in a puff of smoke wearing his colourful Genie garb when the show opens tomorrow night. One-time Eastenders star Sophie Lawrence is playing the role of Aladdin.
A former Rhyddings High and St Pauls Primary pupil, Jayne has enchanted many an audience with her vocal skills in shows, holiday camps and on cruise liners but this is her first outing as an actress.
She attended St Martin's College at the University of Lanc-aster where she studied for a three-year performing arts degree.
Angela, a nursery nurse, is travelling to see her make her acting debut with husband Bernard and Angela's brother James, 22, and friends Lynn, Paul and Alix.
Angela added: "She's been a professional entertainer since she left university and she loves every minute of it. She wants to go all the way to the top."
The show runs until 18 January.
