Masses of recycling foam also spilled out of the HGV on to the bypass at Rising Bridge roundabout following the incident at around 5.20am.

A lorry overturned this morning on the Rising Bridge roundabout, causing huge rush hour tailbacks.

Masses of recycling foam also spilled out of the HGV on to the bypass following the incident at around 5.20am.

Police said there were no injuries and no damage to any other vehicles.

The road, which was initially closed in both directions, is still being cleared and the lorry is waiting to be removed.

Frustrated motorists continue to queue on roads leading to the roundabout.

The lorry is one of Interfloor's, a leading manufacturer of underlay and flooring accessories based in Haslingden.

Highways Agency officers are currently clearing the bypass.

Firefighters also spent an hour at the scene earlier after diesel leaked from the lorry.
