We are launching our Shop Local Club to get our town centres buzzing this Christmas. We are lining up a series of fantastic offers from our borough businesses to get shoppers spending money in our independent shops.
Every week we will carry a list of offers from supporting shops and stalls and we are calling on traders to sign up to the Shop Local Club by putting together a special deal for our readers.
And for our part we will publicise deals in the Observer every week until Christmas to encourage shoppers to use our local shops. This week we are kicking off with no fewer than 12 offers from businesses across Hyndburn of which readers can take advantage.
In this week's Observer will be your own Shop Local club card which will allow shoppers to access the exclusive deals designed by our traders. There is also a poster on the opposite page for traders to display in their shop windows to show that Shop Local Offers are on offer in their shops.
Club member Pam Holgate, of Pam's Bookend in Great Harwood, said: "I think it's a brilliant idea and I’m all for it. People love shopping locally and the community of Great Harwood love their high street and love to be able to have that choice.
"Supermarkets sell what they want but we sell what the customer wants. I hope they will come in and take advantage of our offer."
Craig Brasenell, co-owner of Louis George Hair in Rishton, said: "I think the Shop Local Club is a great idea as it will provide fantastic offers for people in the borough and we need everybody to help out."
Each week this page will champion the borough, celebrate the people who work here, tell their stories and cover news and events.
And keep us posted on new staff, openings and relocations, charity events, anniversaries, awards and we want readers views.
