THE parents of a premature baby have raised cash for the hospital ward that helped save her life.

Georgia Wild was born one month early at Queen's Park Hospital, Blackburn, in June. She had low blood sugar levels and was looked after on the hospital's neo-natal intensive care unit for three days.

The four-month-old is now fit and healthy and on Monday her grateful parents Andrew, 36, and Tracy, 33, of Pinewood Drive, Accrington, presented a cheque for £375 to the ward.

Tracy, who works as a lab technician at Accrington and Rossendale College, said: "When we had her christened we asked people not to buy gifts but to give donations for the hospital.

"You don't appreciate what a good job they do until you see it for yourself, but they were absolutely fantastic with us. If it wasn't for them, Georgia might not have been here to tell the tale.

"They were very grateful when we gave them the cheque. There are always items of equipment they need, like monitors, but I am not sure exactly what they will be spending it on."
