Accrington Stanley manager James Beattie took his entire squad for lunch at the new StrEAT food court in the Arndale Centre to refuel after a training session.
The players and coaching staff tucked into noodle dishes from Wuji Eastern Fusion and pizzas from Pizza Neo, giving the town’s newest retail venture their official thumbs up.
Beattie said: “The team at StrEAT kindly invited us all down for lunch when I opened the food court with the Mayor a few weeks ago and we were delighted to accept.
“It’s a tremendous facility. It’s something you’d normally find in a larger city so it’s great for Accrington and should encourage more people to come into the town.”
Mark Tedstill, area manager for CPL Foods, who run the food court, said: “It’s great to see the boys here enjoying the fantastic food on offer.”
After lunch the group ventured out into the rest of the Arndale Centre and Accrington, visiting WH Smith, the Card Factory, Baileys Menswear and Branded Clearance.
They also visited the Market Hall and browsed the Christmas markets to snap up some last-minute gifts.
The team visited the Game store on Broadway to try their luck at the Christmas bestsellers and sign copies of FIFA 14 for staff and customers.
Shoppers were also given the chance to have autographs signed by the players.
Jim Saron, owner of Bailey’s Menswear, said: “It’s brilliant to see the team out and about in the town supporting local businesses at Christmas.
“We hope to see them back in the New Year to check out our January sales.”
The team is planning another visit to the town centre after Christmas.
