A town centre pub has reopened just weeks after its future was thrown into doubt.
The Observer reported earlier this month how The Calder, on Blackburn Road in Accrington, had been shut up and a sign placed on the windows stating it had closed for ‘essential maintenance’.
The pub was also advertised as ‘for sale’ on business property selling website Christie and Co.
Government records showed previous owners Enjoy Pubs Limited had gone into liquidation after being served with compulsory winding up order in September and was being overseen by business recovery firm O’Hara’s Limited.
However a statement on the pub’s Facebook page this week confirmed they have reopened under new management and looking for new staff.
It said: “It is hard taking on such an iconic business in the town as the Calder in Accrington.
“There have been stories of the bar being closed and never reopening, clearly this is not the case.
“WE ARE OPEN, new manager and new staff. But we need your support, Please pass the word to your friends and come and see us.”
