Two heartless crooks pretending to be police officers have burgled a ‘vulnerable’ man’s house.
The young offenders entered the 59-year-old victim's house on Northfield Road in Rising Bridge while he was in the living room and searched upstairs bedrooms for items to steal.
Police said they then went downstairs and managed to get a key for a safe after one of the men told the owner he was a police officer.
They then removed around £20 in cash from the safe before the victim started shouting for help.
A police spokesman said one of the offenders tried to restrain the owner before they both fled the scene.
The incident happened at around 8.30pm on Thursday, November 5.
The men are both described as white, in their late teens or early 20s, around 5ft 6ins tall wearing jeans and one was thinner than the other.
A Rossendale Police spokesman said: “Two young white males entered a vulnerable person's home and after a confrontation stole property.
“Police are making extensive enquires to locate and arrest the two perpetrators.
“Please ensure that all windows and doors are locked securely even when your at home.”
