Based on the recent form of both clubs, Greyhound’s match with Brierfield White should have been a relatively easy victory.

However, it turned out to be far from that with the Brierfield side going all-out from the kick-off to make it as difficult a morning as possible for Greyhound.

After a tough opening 10 minutes, some excellent wing play by Ethan Dean found Bradley Titherington who finished first-time with a crisp shot into the bottom corner to give Greyhound the lead.

It was Titherington again on 20 minutes who fired in a shot that the keeper failed to hold and was followed up by Ethan Dean to make it 2-0.

Into the second half Greyhound were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box and it was Titherington who fired home a peach of a free kick high to the keeper’s right-hand side to make it 3-0. Brierfield then grabbed what seemed to be a consolation as the Greyhound defence was tested time after time.

However, the defence held strong with man-of-the-match George Polvani standing out at centre-half.

With 20 minutes to play, all seemed to be going Greyhound’s way until a number of lapses in concentration saw Brierfield rally and fire two goals in quick succession and leave Greyhound shellshocked at 3-3 with five mins to play.

It was the Dean - Titherington partnership who worked together again with Dean snatching a late winner two minutes from time in a thrilling game.
